My work starts with a mark, a color, or a shape, and builds from there. I often have no idea where the painting will go in the beginning stages and I strive for expressive freedom. A story is created as paint is laid down, scraped off, refined, and edited. Through the language of movement, color, and contrast, told layer upon layer, I hope to express visually what I may not be able to verbally.
